Hotmail Alert?

I got kinda shocked when I reading this e-mail something called the Hotmail Alert today.
The e-mail mention that is from Hotmail Customer Care and they are sending it to every Hotmail Email User Accounts Owner for safety. There are having congestions due to the anonymous registration of Hotmail accounts so they are shutting down some Hotmail accounts and my account was among those to be deleted?!
He/she asked me to verify my hotmail account by filling the space which included my user name, password, date of birth and country information.
Account owner that refuses to update account after two weeks of receiving this warning will lose his or her account permanently.

Anyway, I don't know whether it is really an e-mail that send by Windows Live Hotmail Team or not or someone whose is too boring to play a prank on people or maybe the sender is a hacker or what.
Seriously, when that e-mail asked to verify my account with included filling my password, I start doubt whether it is fake or not.
But before of this, I should mention that I actually seldom to check my hotmail inbox, even to log-in and check and there are almost reaching 2000 unread e-mails now. haha! So maybe cause of team to delete my account. Actually many of them is about junk mail or what called continuously mail that keep ask you forward it to others if not then what and what. I hate this type of mail but I can't straight forward delete all because dont know whether delete any important email at the same time or not.
So, I decided to post this here and ask anyone of you ever receive this e-mail from Windows Live Hotmail Team or whatever harker alert? Comments and suggestion on this. Thanks!
